Artist Bio Clark D, a 24-year-old rapper and producer, was born and raised in the Hyde Park/Mattapan region of Boston, Massachusetts. Growing up in a Haitian household instilled in him the values of family and hard work. At just 15 years old, Clark began his journey into music at the Mattapan Teen Center, a Boys & Girls Club for local teens. Under the mentorship of the center's staff, he honed his skills in music production and recording. Inspired by notable artists such as Drake, Kendrick Lamar, J. Cole, Isaiah Rashad, and Travis Scott, Clark sought to cultivate a unique yet adaptable sound. As he refined his craft, Clark emerged as a vibrant performer, gracing stages at renowned venues such as Agganis Arena, The Middle East Downstairs, Brighton Music Hall, The Sinclair, and Sonias, to name a few.

After earning a degree in Audio Engineering, Clark relocated to Atlanta, keen to advance his career in the music industry. His life took a dramatic turn in 2019 when he underwent surgery for spontaneous lung collapses. This traumatic event spurred self-reflection and dialog that ultimately shaped Clark's approach to his art. Today, Clark’s music promotes a positive dialogue, aiming to inspire and provide solace for those grappling with personal traumas.

Clark's latest release, "WHAT A LIFE," is a 13-track album reflecting on his journey towards achieving his dreams against the backdrop of his hometown, where many were unable to follow their aspirations. The album, featuring the track "SHAKE EM OFF," signaled a significant development in Clark's unconventional artistry. This song earned him a spot in Complex/Pigeons & Planes' Best New Artists writeup. Clark D continues to evolve his platform, working towards international acclaim and encouraging positivity through his music.

Lyrics

I been riding through Atlanta like it’s good to be black,
I took a flight up north like it’s good to be back,
I been feeling like Tom cuz where the foolery at,
lookin for sum to buss down like where the jewelry at
I guess it’s great being young as,
except these be and they be dumb as
how can I be number 2 when I’m the one in this
I just charge it to the game when I be seein' em Switch it’s crazy,

I had a dream last night I had dinner with Jay z,
Looking ‘round thinking, is someone gon’ pay me?
500 racks is a whole lot of money,
I gotta stay of Twitter, these gon’ play me

Deevo hit my phone like, Where the dividends at
Being real’s a lots art just know we bringin it back
they seen Da Vinci at the mall, except the was black
With a Mac, and the brother had a b on his hat
I never sweat shit cuz I be the coolest of cats,
You leave a on a rug and watch him turn to a rat,
it’s Tom and Jerry now, plus I got my dawg in the back,
he’s in a real bad mood looking for somethin' to smack,

Like really want cheese but ain’t working for Jack?
niggas really love tweeting like they wit Jack,
my vibes like real life dope if you mix it with,
she takes one small hit and it’s bringing her back, facts,

Speaks of facts I know nothin but that,
you hate but that’s what you attract,
and since the cats out the bag I think it’s time to
unpack,
let’s have a nice conversation bout a time in the past

I had a date with a Gemini,
Bad ting you see the shorty she was super fine,
But she had an alter ego, that had me like never mind.
Cuz one thing about me is I be simple as,
I be tryna have fun but I ain’t lookin for kids
I won’t add the light to dark but I be still in the mix,
I seen another bad apple but it is what it is

I’m a real PI they call me great gatsby
like TI I pushed Ps in passing,
Rubba band man got nothing on my habits,
in a few years I’m looking to whip Casper,
a young black master, call me a wife snatcher,
it ain’t my fault, that I’m the she’s after
I been him, mixing the swag wit my stature,
gotta life live, we gon see the rapture,
the stu got drakes, but nobodies on the raptors,
life in the A, it made me work faster,
black Hollywood, some be like actors,
the city got love, if love is what ya after ,

just keep it real I be hating that fake,
get extorted so how imma date shit,
I don’t need your opinion stick to your day shift,
if you y’all ain’t got jobs tell me how we gon' make it?

it’s hard living a life, committed as a real one,
if you see me pull up in that, just know the deals done,
i got plenty of flows, I let ‘em steal some
feel like I live in a circus, folks is real dumb,
bird brained folks, steady livin off real crumbs,
I need the whole loaf, and i love to feel some real buns,

but Im still screaming what a life baby
