Artist Bio Jwane is a singer and producer drawing heavily from her transient, multicultural background to create music that pays homage to the in-between, to the duality of being from more than one place, an amalgamation of genre and sound that crystallizes into something entirely original and new.

Her latest single, “Wildfire,” co-produced with Brazzen, ultimately nods to her Toronto roots, while her larger body of work references teenage nights in Abu Dhabi, blasting Frank Ocean and System of A Down in cars and on empty bleachers with her friends. She finds musical footprints in artists like Rosalía, Labrinth, James Blake, The Weeknd, Bon Iver, and Imogen Heap, blending alt-pop, hip-hop, electronica and rock into an ethereal, liminal miasma of layered soundscapes.

Jwane’s sound is timeless, unconcerned with trends and instead carving a path wholly original, seeking to explore her own identity and carve from that art both cathartic and electrifying. Her songwriting and production thematically concerns itself with splits in personality, her cross-continental communities and family members, and her experience as an immigrant traveler.

WILDFIRE LYRICS

Verse

On the train, I rode it down to see your hair
Tell me how you love me, oh I wish I was there
I won’t leave this house this ground, I know how it shakes
I’ll lay on this glass until I can’t see your face

Chorus

If you let go of me, I die
And if I’m wrong for you, then I tried

Verse

You and I we pass where I don’t live anymore
(Where I don’t live anymore and I can’t lift anymore)
Down these halls I hear our songs, in short they echo
(And I don’t fit anymore so I can’t lift anymore)

Bridge

Losing you it hurts you know I hate the silence
(Where I can’t live anymore where I can’t fit anymore)
Oh remember us if not in this life then in the next

Chorus

If you let go of me, I die
And if I’m wrong for you, then I tried

Outro

Tell me how you love me, oh I wish I was there

If you let go of me, I die
And if I’m wrong for you,
then I tried
I tried
